If you’ve never been to Palm Springs, California, you’re truly missing out on one of the most idyllic getaways just a short drive from Los Angeles. Only about three hours away, this desert oasis offers not only incredible weather but also a combination of relaxation and adventure that makes it one of my favorite places to visit. Kevin and I recently celebrated our 6th anniversary there, and it was the perfect way to unwind and reconnect in such a beautiful setting.
Palm Springs is known for its laid-back luxury, charming hotels, and vibrant food scene. Whether you’re there for a quick weekend getaway or a longer stay, there’s no shortage of things to do— from exploring trendy boutiques to lounging poolside. Here are some of my absolute favorite places to stay, eat, and explore when I visit this gem of a city!
Favorite Hotels in Palm Springs
When it comes to accommodations, Palm Springs offers a variety of unique and cozy stays that perfectly capture the spirit of the city. Here are three of my top picks for a stay you’ll remember:
Sands Hotel & Spa
On our recent trip, Kevin and I chose to stay at the Sands Hotel & Spa, and I’m so glad we did! This place is truly a dream. With its Miami-inspired vibes—think lush greenery and pops of pink—the Sands is an Instagram lover’s paradise. From the moment you arrive, the attention to detail in both design and service is unparalleled. The pool area is so chic with bright pink daybeds that make lounging feel like a true luxury experience. The room we stayed in was spacious, with a charming patio and a tranquil fountain. Every corner of this hotel is photogenic, and I found myself snapping pictures left and right. The vibe was serene and stylish, and the hospitality was exceptional. Located in Indian Wells, which is just a short 25-minute drive from Palm Springs, this place is perfect for those looking for a little extra relaxation and beauty.
The Colony Palms Hotel
For a more central location, the Colony Palms Hotel is a must-visit! Located in the heart of Palm Springs, this hotel is a stone’s throw from the best shops, restaurants, and bars in the area. The hotel recently underwent a renovation, which means everything feels brand new, modern, and clean. I love the restaurant and bar area—it’s stylish and elevated, making it a great spot for a laid-back drink or a bite to eat. The crowd here feels effortlessly chic, like a mix of Palm Springs locals and Hollywood visitors, and their margaritas are some of the best I’ve had! If you want to be close to all the action while enjoying a peaceful and classy vibe, the Colony Palms is your place.
Korakia Pensione Hotel
If you’re looking for something with a bit more character and charm, Korakia Pensione is my go-to. I’ve stayed here multiple times and each time, I’m enchanted all over again by its Mediterranean-style design and tranquil atmosphere. The hotel is filled with unique outdoor spaces—stone paths, fountains, and fire pits that make you feel like you’re stepping into another world. It’s so peaceful and beautiful, you’ll forget you’re in California! The food here is also top-notch, so you’ll be well taken care of. The only downside (and it’s minor) is that the hot water in the showers can run out quickly, but that’s a small price to pay for such an incredible experience. If you love boutique-style hotels that are intimate and full of character, this place is a must.
Top Restaurants & Dining Spots
Palm Springs isn’t just known for its stunning hotels; it’s also home to a vibrant food scene that caters to every taste. Here are a few restaurants I always find myself gravitating to when I visit.
La Quinta Cliffhouse Grill & Bar
If you’re in the mood for a relaxed but elevated dining experience, La Quinta Cliffhouse is perfect. With gorgeous mountain views and a patio that makes you want to stay for hours, it’s an ideal spot for brunch or dinner. The menu is diverse, offering a mix of fresh seafood, steaks, and seasonal dishes. The ambiance is just the right blend of casual elegance, and it’s a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Workshop Kitchen + Bar
For a more trendy vibe, Workshop Kitchen + Bar is the place to be. Located in a sleek, industrial space, this restaurant is as much about the design as it is about the food. The menu is modern and seasonal, with farm-to-table dishes that never disappoint. Whether you’re enjoying their signature cocktails or savoring a delicious meal, the Workshop always delivers on flavor and atmosphere. Plus, it’s located right near the heart of Palm Springs, so it’s perfect for a post-dinner stroll.
Cheeky’s
If you love brunch, you absolutely need to stop by Cheeky’s. It’s an iconic Palm Springs favorite known for its delicious, creative takes on breakfast classics. From freshly baked cinnamon rolls to mouth-watering eggs benedict, Cheeky’s serves up the kind of comfort food that makes you want to come back every weekend. The ambiance is quirky, fun, and just the right amount of playful, making it a perfect start to your day in Palm Springs.
